Steps to Draw a Poodle
Step 1:
We will start this guide on drawing a poodle by drawing the soft outline of the dog’s head and chest. The way this poodle is stylized will make it look like the head and the chest section is a big part of the dog. We’ll use a very jagged line to draw this smooth outline to give it that fluffy texture. The head part will be smaller, while the chest part will be bigger and wider. Then you can also draw the skinny muzzle of the poodle sticking out to the left. Be sure to leave a small gap at the bottom, as this is where a leg will stick out later.
Step 2:
This part of your poodle drawing will see you filling in that space we left at the body’s base in the last part. To do this, use smooth lines for the top of the front legs. Next, we will draw the round fluffy bases of the legs. To do this, use a similar jagged line to create the fluffy shapes as they appear in our reference image. Then draw a few little paws under these shapes and finish by drawing a few lines around the face.

Step 3:
We will add a bit to this image in this third step of our guide to drawing a poodle. First, draw a small eye on the dog’s facial area. Next, we will use a curved line for the ear to fall. This ear will have a small base, widening as it descends. They will also be drawn with a slightly jagged line to give them a hairy look. Next, we will draw the hind legs of the poodle. Like the front legs, they start with smooth lines, then have tufts of fur on the little legs. Then we can go to the next step, where we will complete the diagram.
Step 4:
As mentioned in the previous step of how to draw a poodle, we will finish the dog’s outline before moving on to the final details in the next step. The tail will have a soft little base and a fluffy fur ball at the end. With this tail drawn as it appears in our reference image, we’ll draw a few round tufts of hair on the poodle’s back. This will complete the outline of this poodle, and in the next step to draw a poodle, we can finish it by drawing some small final touches and details.
Step 5:
This fifth step of our guide to drawing a poodle will allow you to finish by drawing a few last small details. These will mainly focus on areas of the poodle with fluffy hair present. These details will be small and curved to give these areas a more textured and fluffy look. Once you’ve added those little details, you can add more details and ideas! There are many great ideas you could do for this, and one would be to draw a poodle background. What kind of environment do you plan to put this poodle in? You could even draw more dogs or pets that you like to keep this fluffy friend company!
